Parking areas, RTZ, Taxi and Carsharing

Parking
There are many pay and display parking areas near the historical centre and the main places of interest.
Customers of TIM, Vodafone, Wine and 3 Italia can pay by sending an SMS.
Tickets for parking areas marked out with blue stripes can be bought through phone credit, without any need to register or use credit cards, via an SMS to the number 4-899-899.
The electronic ticket is valid from the moment of purchase; no further confirmation is needed and the parking time can be extended with further SMS messages.

Limited traffic areas
The Municipality has established limited traffic areas and controlled traffic areas; in order to travel safely through the city with one's one car, the information website should be consulted.

Taxis
There are taxi ranks in Piazza Stazione (Centrale railway station) and in the historical centre in Piazza Duomo. Radio Taxi tel.: 0574-5656.

Car sharing
The car sharing service is easy and economical and it provides new cars that comply with environmental regulations. Cars can be rented for as little as one hour, through a simple and quick booking and collection procedure.
In Prato people can use Car2go, the car sharing service that allows them to drive a Smart car to all the areas of the city, including the historical centre and limited-traffic ZTL areas, and to park for free.
Using Car2go is extremely easy: on an app that can be downloaded on their smartphones, customers can find a free car (or book it 30 minutes in advance) at the cost of 0.29 Euro a minute including taxes, insurance, petrol and VAT. At the end, the car is brought back to one of the reserved parking areas within the coverage area of the service.

Car2go Smart cars can also be used to visit nearby Florence or to drive to the Amerigo Vespucci airport, where customers can end the rental by leaving the car in the parking areas reserved for them.
