PRATO IS NATURE

The industrial city of Prato is surrounded by green and is suited to sustainability.
Hikers and nature lovers can explore the Calvana mountains surrounding the city, the natural park of Galceti at the foot of Monte Ferrato and the Bisenzio River, through many paths and a developed net of cycle tracks (53 kilometres) which connects the Bisenzio Valley with the Medici towns. The rivers banks, equipped for walks on both sides, allow to live and visit the city in a surprising way.
Southwards, the Cascine di Tavola park, realized by Lorenzo the Magnificent, extends for 40 hectares which are practicable through well marked paths and houses a beautiful golf club and a riding school.
The park was born as steading and hunting estate of the Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano, recently listed as UNESCO heritage site, together with Villa La Ferdinanda (Bernardo Buontalenti, 1594) also called “of the hundred chimneys”.
